A free trichotillomania app that notices before you do

Hair pulling often happens in a trance-like, focused state, while reading, studying or at a screen. Habitron watches for your hand reaching your scalp, eyebrows or lashes and gives you an immediate, gentle signal.

Focused and automatic pulling

Many people with trichotillomania describe two kinds of pulling: focused pulling, done deliberately in response to an urge, and automatic pulling, done without noticing. Automatic pulling is where an outside signal helps most, because it interrupts a behavior you are not aware of.

Built around awareness training

Habit reversal training and the ComB model both rely on noticing pulling early. Habitron gives you that early signal every time, so you can practise your competing response, like clasping your hands or touching a textured object, right when it matters.

Choose the zones that matter to you

Turn on the Hair/Forehead zone for scalp pulling and Eyes/Lashes for eyebrow and eyelash pulling. You can monitor several zones at once.

Private by design

Habitron never records, stores or uploads video. Detection runs entirely on your device using MediaPipe hand and face tracking.

Not a replacement for treatment

Habitron is a self-help awareness tool, not a medical device. If hair pulling is affecting your life, a therapist trained in BFRBs can help. The TLC Foundation for BFRBs (bfrb.org) lists specialists and support groups.
